The Third Edition of the prestigious Women’s Choice Award Africa, which celebrates women who are championing Nobel causes and setting remarkable paces across this continent, comes off on Friday, 29th October 2021.

The event, which is powered by Global Ovations, is headlined by Guinness Ghana Limited as the premium sponsor and is under the theme: The Progressive Portrayal of Women its Impact on National and Organisational Development.

The narration of women in leadership in Africa is gradually morphing from the conservative stand which has been tilted against women, but there is a long way to go in attaining equity among both genders.

Globally, women only hold 21.9% of all elected seats in government and other leadership positions. Women have to skin on an extra layer of confidence and perseverance to keep their heads afloat in leading and charting unconventional paths.

The Women’s Choice Award Africa, in this light, seeks to recognize, celebrate and project women who have stood tall amidst the gender imbalance and stereotype that has been perpetrated against the gender.

These are women who are using their voices, platforms, positions, and presence to champion causes that empower other females in this affirmative action.

Over the past two events, the Women’s Choice Award Africa (WCAA) has recognized and celebrated distinguished personalities like Oheneyere Gifty Anti, Stacey Amoateng, Yvette Atekpe, Shirley Toni Kum, Edith Uvanoukari, and Sophie Guaye to mention a few.

These are women from varied backgrounds and sectors contributing meaningfully to the growth of women and the country’s economy.

The previous events have been very successful; however, the brain behind the event, Gideon Raji, maintains that this is only the beginning. In a brief, he remarked, “We should never underestimate the power and influence that women can have in bringing about positive change in politics, in economics, in society, and in leadership at large.

Our work is far from finished.”

This year’s award has been expanded to include women in clandestine sectors who must be recognized for their impressive efforts.

In the lead-up to the grande night, a special broadcast will be held on 10th September 2021 to announce the nominee selection process, sponsors, guests, hosts, the final nominees' list, and the commencement of voting. This broadcast will be on national television, the event website, and social media channels.
