Notice of mandatory payment of royalties by quarry operators, salt mining, limestone operators

The Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) wishes to remind all active and licensed quarry operators, salt mining operators, limestone mining operators, and sand winners to pay their minerals royalties pursuant to Section 27 and 28 of the Mineral Income Investment Act (Act 978), as amended by the Minerals Income Investment Fund (Amendment) Act, 2020 (Act 1024) and the Minerals and Mining (Amendment) Act, 2015 (Act 900).

Kindly note that royalties are to be paid into a designated MIIF account at the Bank of Ghana and returns filed at the nearest Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) office. Returns should also be filed with the finance department at MIIF and addressed to MIIF or by email via finance@miif.gov.gh.

By this release, the operators who have not paid royalties for the first, second, and third quarters of 2021 (from January to September) are by law required to do so and update their records accordingly at the nearest offices of the Ghana Revenue Authority and the Minerals Income Investment Fund.
