Ohene’s media tour, promotes ‘wedding day’ & ‘Ghana’ songs

UK-based Ghanaian Highlife artiste, Ohene with regards to his two nominations in this year’s Ghana Music Awards UK embarked on a media tour in Ghana.

He earned nominations in the UK-based Best Highlife song of the year and UK-based Best Collaboration of the year categories with his single, ‘Wedding Day’ featuring Flowkingstone which was released in October 2020.

According to Ohene, “the purpose of the media tour is to introduce myself to Ghanaians and to also, promote my nominated song and another song which was released on my birthday, August 22 titled ‘Ghana’ on various high profiled platforms which includes radio and TV platforms in Accra and Kumasi.”

Adding, “the tour has so far been amazing and the various media platforms I have been hosted on both in Accra and Kumasi has been very receptive. Not forgetting the reviews received from both show pandits and listeners hugely inspires me to indeed focus on churning out more good Highlife songs”

The tour train took off in Accra on August 18, 2021, on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, hosted by Andy Dosty; The Zone, hosted by Maame Animwaa on Starr FM on August 20, 2021; Zylofon FM’s Showbiz Agenda, hosted by Sammy Flex and Top Power Drive on Top FM, hosted by DJ Fox on August 25, 2021, respectively; Power Entertainment Show hosted by Agyemang Prempeh on Power FM; and Evng. Dr Who’s show, Rush hour on Hot FM.

In Kumasi, Ohene was hosted on Y-FM Kumasi’s ‘Ryse n Shyne’ show hosted by Blogger/Broadcaster, NYDJ on August 27, 2021. On August 28, 2021; he joined Tony Best on Akoma FM’s Entertainment 360 show; B-Ice on Agyenkwa FM; Silver FM’s Anigye Dawuro Entertainment Show hosted by DJ KA and Anokyekrom Entertainment show on Otec FM, hosted by Collins Tee; Sweet FM’s Sweet Entertainment Vibes, hosted DJ Tag Pizzaro.

Ohene doubles as a songwriter, producer (of his own songs) and music director. He has a very rich background in the choral industry, directing the Tema Youth Choir successfully for 7 years, and has to his credit several popular choral compositions including ‘Fire Burning in my soul’, ‘Hwe m’ahuofe’, and ‘I’ll lift up your name’ (King of Kings, Lord of Lords), among others.

He hosted a Charity Concert in 2018 in Ghana during which he was able to raise GHC20,000 with the help of some renowned Choirs in support of The Royal Seed Orphanage.

To his credit, Ohene trained music producers KinDee and KayDee, both best known for producing Kofi Kinaata and Ernest Opoku respectively. Before relocating to the UK, he worked as an A&R Manager for Okyeame Kwame and One Mic Entertainment.
