One Thousand Seven Hundred and eighty-six students have applied for Government scholarship in the Western North Region.
Out of the figure, 65 of the applications were received from Bia East, while Bia West received 204 applications.
The Sefwi- Waiwso Municipal received 194 applications with Bibiani Anwhiaso Bekwai Municipality getting 275 applications and Aowin recording 181 applications.
Sefwi-Akontombra District got 187 applications with 304 coming from Juaboso District, while Suaman received 203 and Bodi District received 174 applications.
The Scholarship Secretariat has also set June 15 to June 25 to interview all the applicants from the nine districts in the Region.
Speaking to the GNA at Sefwi-Essam, after a successful interview of applicants from Bia East and West, Madam Evelyn Jenifer Badu, Protocol officer at the Scholarship Secretariat and member of the Western North interviewing team, said they were done with Bibiani Anwhiaso Bekwai Municipality and Bia West and East Districts.
She said the process has so far been very successful due to the automation process and commended the government and Mr Kingsley Agyeman, registrar of the Scholarship Secretariat for decentralizing the scholarship scheme, which had made it possible for applicants to apply and be interviewed at their districts without travelling to Accra.
She expressed satisfaction about the number of female applicants from the Bia East and West Districts.
Madam Badu advised the beneficiaries to take their lessons seriously in order to make good use of the money invested in them.
She expressed gratitude to Mr John Koah, District Chief Executive for Bia West for his support during the process.
