Bimbilla: 18-year-old man ‘commits suicide’ in Police custody

An 18-year-old man, Mbornlen Abass, known as Agogo, has allegedly hanged himself in a police cell in Bimbilla, Northern Region, after being accused of stealing GH¢2,000.

Arrested on June 25, 2024, Abass denied the theft but was detained overnight.

An officer discovered his lifeless body hanging from the ceiling with a blanket upon returning with food for him.

His body was taken to Bimbilla Hospital for preservation, and he has since been buried. The Regional and Divisional Police Commanders visited the scene on June 27.
