The Municipal Imam of the Navrongo Central Community of Ahmadiyya Muslims, Murabbi Amoah Akolbila Yakubu, has called on the Muslim and Christian communities in the country to co-exist peacefully and have tolerance for the religious faiths of one another.
He said living in peace is integral for nation building and encouraged all to desist from actions that can plunge the country into chaos and rob it of the peace enjoyed over the years.
Speaking in an interview shortly after the Eid ul-Fitr prayers, Murabbi Akolbila reiterated the need for Ghanaians to promote and protect the peace Allah has blessed the country with, irrespective of their religious and political differences.
He said “Whether you are a Muslim or a Christian, we are the same in the sight of God. In fact, the Quran says that those that are near to us in love are those we call Christians. It is very wrong for Muslims to attack Christians based on religion and also wrong for Christians to attack their Muslim brothers. Let us live in peace and harmony and protect and promote the Peace Allah has given us all these years”.
“It is very sad how people hide behind politics to attack other religions. It is absolutely wrong and we must stop it. Islam is peace”. He cautioned.
The Imam prayed for the country against extremist and terrorist attacks, with a call on all religious faiths to rise up in prayers against the aggression that has found its way into neighbouring African countries.
Quoting sections of the Quran, Murabbi Akolbila urged fellow Muslims to adhere strictly to the principles of the Islamic Holy Book and refrain from ideologies that will destroy their relationship with Allah.
In a related development, the Office of the Member of Parliament for the area, Joseph Kofi Adda, has presented one hundred bags of cement to the Ahmadiyya Muslim community to support them in their new mosque project.
The presentation forms part of a pledge Mr. Adda made to support the Ahmadiyya community build an ultra-modern place of worship.
The Office of the MP has also donated some bags of rice and sugar, cooking oil and cartons of soft drinks and tomato paste to the Muslim groups in the area.
Presenting the cement to the Municipal Ahmadiyya Imam, Zemmowura Nabare, the Navrongo Central Constituency Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who led members of the MP’s office, congratulated all Muslims for successfully completing the month-long fast and urged them to use the Holy period to pray for the constituency.
He extended warm Eid ul-fitr wishes and greetings from Mr. Adda to the Muslims and assured them of the MP’s continuous support to the group.
For his part, the Municipal Ahmadiyya Imam, thanked Mr. Adda for honouring his pledge and prayed to Allah to grant him blessings.
He added that the cement will be used to support the building project.
“We pray that Allah will bless him and give him long life. This is a blessed month and Allah has said in the Quran that anyone who does good out of his own will, will get ten folds of whatever he gives and so we pray that Allah will bless our MP who is a Minister of State and enable him to serve the country very well”. He prayed.
