Coronavirus: Beaches being patrolled to stop unlawful entry via sea – Central region police

The Central Regional Police Command is assuring the public of enhanced security in the area even as the country deals with the spread of the Coronavirus.

The police indicate that adequate measures have been put in place to arrest persons who would want to use the sea as a means to get into the country despite the closure of the country’s territorial borders.

The assurance comes on the back of a report in the local media that some persons from the neighbouring countries have been using the sea to get into the country.

The Central Regional Police PRO DSP Irene Obeng in an interview describes the news as false as the service has formed a formidable partnership with the fishermen to arrest persons found to using the sea to get into the country.

The service is, therefore, urging the public to disregard such reports as police personnel have been stationed at the various fishing communities to deal with any unlawful entry.
