Unknown individuals have stolen a 100kVA transformer belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) at Bunso in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern Region.

The transformer, valued at GHC 71,000, was taken from its location near the Bunso Police Station and Fire Service command, while personnel were on duty.

The theft has led to power cuts in the area for over a week.

ECG is working to replace the transformer at an extra 20 percent cost and urges security agencies to be vigilant against such criminal activities.
