The youth of Fumso in the Adansi Asokwa District of Ashanti Region have captured two individuals involved in illegal mining (galamsey) and handed them, along with their equipment, to the Police.
The community has suffered from severe environmental damage, including the contamination of two crucial water bodies, River Fum and Prakum, due to reckless mining activities.
Alarmed by the impact on their water sources, the youth took action to protect their environment.
A taskforce has also been introduced as part of a broader anti-galamsey campaign to safeguard natural resources and support the Police investigation.
