The District Chief Executive of Gomoa East, Solomon Darko-Quarm, has stated he lacked the authority to halt construction of the Accra-Winneba highway, following the collapse of a bridge due to flooding.

Darko-Quarm explained that a drainage system was in place to divert water, but unexpected rising levels caused overflow.

He assured efforts are underway to address the situation and urged patience from affected individuals, attributing the incident to an "act of God."
