Kawukudi: Pedestrians lament presence of mentally ill individuals at Bus shelters

Pedestrians using the Kawukudi stretch in Accra have raised concerns over mentally ill individuals occupying bus shelters, making it difficult for them to wait for public transport.

This forces pedestrians to stand closer to the road, risking their safety, and endure unpleasant odors.

They have called for government intervention to address the issue.

The Mental Health Authority has also emphasized the need for a community-based approach and inclusion of mental health treatment in the National Health Insurance Scheme.
