Mourner crushed by train on way to cemetery

The entire Kojokrom township in the Sekondi/Takoradi metropolis has been thrown into a state of shock and sombreness after a 26-year-old man was crushed to death by a cargo train around 1pm, Saturday.

The deceased, whose name has been given as Castro, was said to be part of hundreds of mourners who were on their way to the cemetery to bury a friend.

Eyewitnesses told Connect FM’s OMANBAPA morning show host Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson that the deceased, who was very drunk, attempted hanging on the train that was heading towards Takoradi.

“He suddenly slipped and the train mutilated his body,” an eye witness narrated.

The body has since been conveyed to the Effia Nkwanta mortuary by the Kojokrom police.
