The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, bid a solemn farewell to the late Akyempimhene, Oheneba Adusei Poku, at the Akyeremade Palace in Kumasi.

The late traditional leader, who passed at 77, was laid in state for three days, with Monday marking Otumfuo’s final tribute.

Draped in black to signify mourning, Otumfuo was carried in a palanquin through Adum to the palace, singing traditional dirges.

After paying his respects, he sat as chief mourner while dignitaries, including NPP running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, offered condolences.

The ceremony featured Asante dirges, and the late chief, who was Otumfuo’s eldest son and Kyidom Division head, was set to be buried in a mausoleum that night.
