The Orators is an inter-high school program designed to foster the cognitive, critical thinking, and expression of students. The challenge was organized by Speech Forces and Africa Schools Online with support from Indomie Ghana. The event which was part of the activities to mark the 18th Ghana International Book Fair was also supported by Blue Vision Multimedia and Botaepa TV.

19 students from 10 schools in and around Accra battled it out on stage to impress the judges and audience with thought-provoking and creative speeches in 3 exciting speaking rounds.

After the General round which had the competitors speaking on a chosen topic from a list sent to the schools earlier, 10 speakers advanced to the semi-finals round (Silver Stage) to tackle the Impromptu challenge. Orators from Accra Girls' Senior High School, Delhi Private School, and St. Augustine's College missed out narrowly on the final 4 spots.

Earlier, students representing Ghana National College, Ghana Lebanon Islamic Secondary School, and Presbyterian Secondary Technical School ended their journey at General Round (Bronze stage). Orators at this stage spoke on topics such as: "The cry of the environment", "Brain drain, or gain?", "The future is feminine", "Identity in the midst of chaos" etc.

The top 3 Orators received cash prizes, trophies, medals, and goodies from Indomie Ghana.

Mr. Abel Ohene Acquaye, speaking on behalf of the organizers, expressed gratitude to the participating schools for honoring the invitation and preparing their students adequately for the challenge.

He thanked Indomie Ghana and the various partners that made the event possible and made a passionate call to Corporate Ghana and other organizations to support platforms that allow young people to express themselves on societal issues while developing themselves for the future.

Mr. Aquaye ended by assuring the schools and students that the Orators have come to stay and will be an annual feature in the country.

Watch out for the 2nd edition next year!
