Residents abandon decomposing corpse of man struck by lightning

The body of Galley Kofi, a 55-year-old man struck by lightning on June 20, remains unattended outside his home in Tokokoe Electoral Area, Ho Municipality, Volta Region.

The community, shocked and fearful due to superstitions, has left the body untouched, awaiting specific rituals to appease the gods.

Assemblyman Raymond Kporvu highlighted the spiritual significance attributed to the event, as lightning strikes are rare in the area.

Despite police and NADMO assessments, family members sought more time for ritual consultations before moving the body to the morgue. The Assemblyman assured that the body would be removed after the rites to prevent health risks.
