Rotary club donates to Asempanaye

Asempanaye (E/R), Nov. 28, GNA - The Accra Ring Road Branch of the Rotary Club on Friday presented used clothes and 100 dual school desks donated by Standard Chartered Bank to the people of Asempanaye, a village in the Eastern Region.

The Club also inspected a three-unit school block it sponsored for the community and undertook a medical outreach, which saw the de-worming of the inhabitants, diagnosis of various diseases and presentation of assorted drugs ranging from painkillers to multivitamins. Addressing the gathering, Mr Jeffrey Afful, President of the Club, noted that they decided to adopt the village due to the deplorable condition in which the inhabitants found themselves. "We Rotarians have the education of children in this village at heart. That is why when we came here the other time we immunised the children and donated books and school bags to them and will continue to do all that we can to help them," he added. Enumerating some of challenges of the village, Nana Ampem Darko, Chief of Asempanaye, noted that the village did not have a clinic and a Junior High School.

People who are seriously sick either travel to Adawso Clinic or Koforidua for treatment while pupils who complete Primary Six have to travel to Tinkong, a village of about three kilometres away, to attend JHS. He thanked the club for its assistance to the village and pledged the support of his people towards all the projects of the club in the village.
