The Savannah Regional Minister Hon. Salifu Adam Braimah together the Deputy Regional Minister Hon. Samuel Yeyu Tika and the Savannah Regional Director of Agriculture Mr. Eric Hudson Asamani have paid working visit to the Bole District on Monday 4th May, 2020 to inspect some Cashew Nursery sites.
The team visited the Sonyo Cashew Nursery site to ascertain their preparedness towards an initiative that has been employed to standardise cashew farming in the region.
The Bole District Director of Agriculture Mr Ibrahim Mumuni who led the team to Sonyo said his team is pooling resources together to ensure that about Two Hundred Thousand (200,000) cashew seedlings are distributed to beneficiaries this year and distribution according to Mr Ibrahim will commence latest by close of May, 2020.
The initiative since its inception have always given out the seedlings to beneficiaries for free with the notion that it will motivate and as well maximize the interest and income of the farmer folks. Progress and successes chalk so far is attributed to the combine efforts of the Ghana Productive
Safety Net Project (GPSNP) and the Bole District Assembly.
Hon. Salifu Adam Braimah commended the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bole Madam Veronica Alele Heming who was also at the site and the District Agriculture team for good work and also asked for a quick assembling of the register of the beneficiaries.
The Minister pleaded with the team to further arrange a farm visit to the farms of previous beneficiaries to see if they are making progress.
He also as part of the trip passed through another Nursery site of the Bole substation of the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana.
