The Savannah Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has denied claims of military deployment to protect residents during the Damba festival in Debre, Central Gonja District.

Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I had alleged that government appointees sent military officers, which he said contradicted Gonja customs.

In a statement, REGSEC clarified that soldiers from the 155 Armoured Regiment were in the area for routine patrol, not for festival security.

The council emphasized that any military operations must be approved by them, noting that no such interventions had been sanctioned in the past two months.
