Tension at Kwahu Pepease over installation of new chief

Tensions are rising in Kwahu Pepease, Eastern Region, as the Santase Royal family plans to install a new chief without the approval of the town’s traditional kingmakers.

This follows the conviction of the current chief, Nana Bonsu Ayiripe Ababio, creating a leadership vacancy.

The kingmakers, led by Nana Ofori Sasu II, oppose the installation, warning it could lead to violence.

They have called for intervention from security agencies to prevent the installation and ensure community stability.
