The Overlord of the Dagbon state, Ya-Na Abubakari Mahama on Sunday made a triumphant entry to the Manhyia Palace to join Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to mark the Akwasidae kesei.
The Akwasidae Kesei would climax the 20th Anniversary celebration of his enstoolment as the 16th occupant of the Golden stool.
Ya-Na Mahama who was accompanied by a long retinue of chiefs rode on a horse amidst a beautiful display of the Dagomba traditional dance " Damba", to the admiration of the enthusiastic crowd which gathered at Bodwawe, the venue of the event.
The crowd spontaneously rose up to catch a glimpse of the new Overlord who was clad in his beautiful royal traditional attire.
Ya- Na's entry into the Manhyia palace is significant, following the role Otumfuo Osei Tutu played in the settlement of the long chieftaincy disputes in the Dragon traditional area.
The visit is seen as a show of appreciation to the Asantehene for his untiring effort to bring a lasting peace to Dagbon people.
In January, 2019 the new Ya-Na Abubakari Mahama was chosen in Yendi by the Dagbon state kingmakers.
This was after a peace initiative by the Committee of Eminent Chiefs led by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
