Accra, Dec 31, GNA - Alhaji Ahmed Bandoh, Chief Executive Officer of Bahmed Travel and Tours has said the senior national team, the Black Stars are capable of bringing honour to the nation during the 26th MTN Africa Cup of Nations, Ghana 2008 despite the imminent absence of skipper Stephen Appiah.
He told the GNA Sports that even though Appiah is a key member of the team and his presence could have seen the Stars in a better shape, he believes in the ability of the other players to deliver. Skipper Appiah has been ruled out of the Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nations as a result of complications after a knee surgery last June. According to Alhaji Bandoh, the Stars have over the years displayed high level of character and this would spur them onto the much expected victory.
Alhaji Bandoh in a New Year message said he is looking forward to a better sporting season in 2008 and expressed the hope that the nation would excel at the Beijing Olympic Games. "I am of the firm conviction that Ghana would make a significant impact in the Beijing 2008 Olympics Games in China". He, however, noted that the success of the Black Stars and the National Olympic team would depend on the level of corporate support for the two teams.
Alhaji Bandoh therefore called on the corporate bodies and individuals to support the Black Stars and other national teams to win laurels for the country.
