Ghana League 2011-12, CAN 2015 Runners Up

Baba Rahman (born 2 July 1994) is a Ghanaian footballer who currently plays for FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga. He first moved to Germany when transferred to SpVgg Greuther Fürth on a five-year contract from Dreamz FC of his homeland in June 2012. He also currently captains Ghana at the under-20 level.

Rahman began his career at Dreamz FC of the Ghana Division Two. After impressive performances, he was then transferred to on loan to Asante Kotoko F.C. of the Ghana Premier League for one season.
For the 2012 season, Rahman was a finalist for the league's Discovery of the Year Award, eventually losing to Joshua Oniku. After becoming a sought after player during his time with the Kumasi-based club, serious inquiries were made about the player by Manchester City and Arsenal of the Premier League and Parma F.C. of the Italian Serie A.

However, Rahman eventually signed with the newly promoted SpVgg Greuther Fürth in the German Bundesliga on 12 June 2012. Rahman stated that his decision to join Fürth was because the club offered, "the best conditions in which to develop my career.” In the Derby between Greuther Fürth and 1. FC Nuremberg on 11 August 2014 he scored his first 2 goals for Fürth.

The next day he signed with FC Augsburg. Baba is currently the 7th ranked player according to the latest Bundesliga player index with an average of 2.9 interceptions, 3.5 clearances, 1.4 dribbles, 0.5 shot blocks and 4.8 tackles – the highest tackle rate by any player in the Bundesliga.

In August 2016 he moved to Schalke on a season-long loan where he reunited with his former Augsburg boss Markus Weinzierl.

Under him prior to joining Chelsea, Baba helped Augsburg qualify for the Europa League, making 31 league appearances. He made more successful tackles than any other player in the Bundesliga during 2014/15, as well as attempting the highest number of crosses from the left flank.

A Ghanaian international, Baba was a member of his country’s Africa Cup of Nations squad as they finished runners-up to Ivory Coast in the 2015 tournament.
