Twellium Ghana promises more support for tennis

The marketing director of Twellium Ghana Ali Ajami has spoken of his company’s commitment and determination to the development of tennis in the country.

Speaking to the press at the end of the McDan ITF World Tour on Sunday, Ajami commended the players for the level of tennis displayed and expressed satisfaction with the organization of the seven-day

Touching on Ghana’s poor performance, Ajami noted that lack of investment in the sport is hindering the growth of tennis in country.

He gave the assurance that his company will partner the McDan Foundation to organize training sessions for Ghanaian tennis players.

“I’m happy with the organization and the level of tennis we have seen the past seven days. I want to congratulate the McDan Foundation and everyone involved. Unfortunately Ghana could not win any laurel but I believe with the right investment we will produce a world champion soon”.

Executive chairman, McDan Group, Dr Daniel McKorley said " l promised Ghana two things- bringing the ITF tournament to Ghana and moving Ghana tennis from Zone III to Zone II."

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Perry Okudzeto commended ITF and McDan for bringing the tournament to Ghana and called on the media to project the positive strides being made by federations like the Ghana Tennis Federation.

Britain’s Ryan James Storrie stunned No.1 seed Benjamin Lock of Zimbabwe to win the McDan ITF World Tour title.

The Lock brothers, Benjamin and Courtney emerged champions in the doubles category.
