Ride-hailing firm Yango set to launch in Kumasi

International ride-hailing services provider Yango has announced plans to launch its operations in the Kumasi metropolis.

Following its successful operations in Accra, the company looks set to expand to other parts of the country targeting the Ashanti regional capital which has a population of nearly four million and an ever-growing need for transport services.

“Kumasi is one of the largest metropolises in Ghana; its a multicultural background and central location have made it the first choice destination for migrants within Ghana and its neighbouring countries and has always been touted as the economic and commercial capital of Ghana.

These factors make it ideal as the next stop for our expansion drive and therefore important to launch Yango's innovative services in this city which today offers real opportunities in terms of mobility,” said Kojo Arhin Quansah, Yango’s Kumasi City Manager.

Like larger cities, public transport is changing in Kumasi as the supply of private services remains insufficient.

According to Mr. Quansah, the arrival of Yango will bring real relief to the people of Kumasi through the many advantages it offers with an added advantage of benefiting from the improvements made to the apps since its launch in Accra.

He said Yango stands out with its competitive offer for both passengers and drivers and has been designed to minimize wasted time.

Yango app incorporates artificial intelligence that allows the driver, regardless of his geographical position, to select the shortest route. The app also includes an SOS feature that reassures the customer about safety whilst every driver is rated to offer the best service to users of the service.

This is an added advantage for both customers who pay less and for drivers who save on their fuel consumption.

“At last, Yango offers the opportunity to many young Ghanaians to successfully embark on self-entrepreneurship. We still remember the recent testimony of Mohammed Ayaba, alias Truth, who has admitted that ‘Yango has truly changed my life and that of many drivers. In addition to making it easier for them to acquire a car, it offers them very affordable salary conditions,” Mr. Quansah indicated.

He added: “Our expectation for Kumasi is to be the leader in no time and to thrive positively. Our message to the good people of Kumasi is to create jobs for the youth and provide affordable rides and quality service for all our stakeholders.”
