Akufo - Addo appoints Titus-Glover as Managing Director of VALCO

Mr Titus-Glover takes over from Dan Acheampong, who held the position from January 2014 till date. The appointment takes effect 2 March 2023

President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover as the Managing Director of the Volta Aluminum Company Limited (VOLCO).

Mr Titus-Glover takes over from Dan Acheampong, who held the position from January 2014 till date. Mr Titus-Glover’s appointment is contained in a letter cited by Asaase News and dated 2 March 2023.

The letter addressed to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, and signed by the secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, states that “the President has nominated Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover for appointment as Managing Director of Volta Aluminium Company Limited”.

“Kindly take the necessary steps to regularise the said appointment in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992) and the constitution of the company” the letter further read.

Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, was born on 28 August 1966. He was the New Patriotic Party (NPP) member of Parliament for the Tema East constituency and he served as deputy minister for transport during the first term administration of President Akufo-Addo.

He also contested for the position of national organizer of the NPP during the 2022 national executives elections but lost narrowly to the Henry Nana Boakye, who then the national youth organizer of the NPP

Titus-Glover holds a master’s degree from Warwick University, Coventry in the United Kingdom. He also has a certificate of higher education from Ruskin College, Oxford, and a certificate in labor studies from the University of Cape Coast.

VALCO where Titus-Glover is to serve continues to playa key role in the efforts of the Ghana Government to develop an Integrated Aluminium Industry (IAI) in Ghana.

Using VALCO as the anchor of the IAI Project, Ghana is set to add value to its over 700 million metric tons of bauxite deposits in the country at Kibi and Nyinahin to generate over USD1.05 trillion and create about 2.3 million good and sustainable jobs.

A study into the viability of the VALCO Smelter confirmed that VALCO, properly mainstreamed into Ghana’s development agenda, will serve as the veritable Anchor of Ghana’s Integrated Aluminium Industry.

VALCO is currently the live wire of the downstream Aluminium industry in Ghana through metal supplies, with its associated employment benefits. In addition, VALCO is being positioned to host an expected growth of the Aluminium downstream industry in Ghana.
