Baba Yara Sports Stadium closed down till Ghana, Angola AFCON qualifier

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi will not be available for domestic games or competitions until Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Angola.

This comes on the back of a decision taken by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ghana Football Association (GFA), held on Wednesday, March 2023.

The pitch will be closed down for refurbishment aimed at improving its quality before Ghana's qualifier with Angola.

“The decision is to give managers of the pitch ample time to further improve the quality of pitch for Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola,” the GFA revealed.

The AFCON qualifier will be played this March.
