I burnt my uncle alive and buried him in his house after he initiated my son into witchcraft - suspect

A 35-year-old-man, Haruna Ezekiel, has allegedly killed his 80-year-old paternal uncle, Sunday Saleh after he alleged that he gave his son some meat to eat some days ago while initiating him into witchcraft and further asking the son to use him for rituals for the completion of the initiation in Bauchi State.

The suspect was said to have been arrested by a complainant (name withheld) of Gongo village while returning from market, saw flames coming out from the house of Sunday Saleh (Deceased), and immediately called for help and the Bauchi Policemen stormed the community.

Unfortunately, the deed has already been done before the police could reach the community, but the suspect, Haruna Ezekiel was apprehended before he escaped the scene.

While being paraded on Thursday by the Bauchi Commissioner of Police, CP Aminu Alhassan who confirmed the unfortunate demise of the octogenarian, Haruna Ezekiel testified to committing the crime.

Haruna Ezekiel while being interviewed by newsmen said, "this incident happened some few days ago after my son (Chomwanda) told me that my late uncle (Sunday Sale) was trying to initiate him into witchcraft and also told him that for the initiation to be complete, he has to sacrifice me for the ritual. I'm a very short-tempered person so I rushed down to my uncle's house and met him resting. I told him about what my son told me and he didn't deny the fact that he asked my son to use me for sacrifice.

Of course, everyone in the village knows that my uncle is a very wicked witchcraft, so he begged me and apologized for asking my son to use me for sacrifice. But before he could finish begging me, I took a stick to the floor and hit him on the head and that made him unconscious. Immediately I noticed he had fainted, I dragged him into his house and burnt all his property alongside him in it. After that, I packed his burnt body and buried him at the back of his house."
Nevertheless, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aminu Alhassan, condemned the action of the suspect for taking the laws into his hand and also promised that the suspect would soon be charged in court.
