Why You Should Avoid Cold Water From The Fridge

We all know that it is extremely important to drink sufficient water to stay hydrated and to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. However, it is also important to note that drinking the correct temperature of water is extremely important for our health and wellbeing.

Most of us drink a glass of cold water right after returning from work, especially during the summer, to quench our thirst and relieve exhaustion. However, many of us are not aware of the fact that drinking cold water straight out of the fridge has a negative health impact on our bodies.

According to E Times Entertainment, here are a few ways that cold water from the fridge can affect our health:

Causes sore throat

When you drink cold water from the fridge, it can cause mucus formation, which can cause breathing issues. Due to which problems like a sore throat, mucus, a cold, and throat swelling can occur.

Increases heart rate

Another reason to avoid consuming cold water is that it decreases the heart rate. According to many studies conducted, drinking cold water not only decreases the heart rate but also stimulates the vagus nerve. The nerve controls the involuntary functions of the body. The nerve is also an integral part of the nervous system. As the vagus nerve is directly affected by the low temperature of the water, the heart rate eventually slows down.

Causes headaches

Drinking cold water or ice water immediately after coming from the sun is a bad idea, as consuming cold water can cool down many nerves in your spine, which affects the brain and leads to headaches. This situation can increase the problem for people suffering from sinus problems.

Affects your digestion

Another reason to avoid drinking cold water is because it has serious implications for your digestive system. Cold water as well as some cold beverages contract the blood vessels and also restrict digestion. The natural process of absorbing nutrients during digestion is hindered when you consume cold water.
