Central University graduates 961 students

Central University has held its 21st graduation ceremony for the second time at Christ Temple with a total of 961 students graduating from 30 undergraduate programmes and 118 students from various graduate programmes.

The event was held on 25th November 2022 with 73 students receiving 1st class degree honours and 18 students received special awards and commendations cutting across the various schools and faculties.

Highlighting the successes of the students across many disciplines and the university in his address, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Bill Buenar Puplampu, stated, “Three students of the Department of Communication & Media Studies secured Investigative Journalism Fellowships with the Media Foundation of West Africa”

He added, that the Faculty of Law continues to develop in the right direction as it can now boast of having the 2nd best performing student in the Part 2 Bar and the current president and vice president of the Ghana School of Law SRC all being former students of the faculty.

To the graduates, he said, “The economy may challenge you, but if you place your trust and life in God’s hands and choose to align your behaviour, choices, and values to what is proper and professional and good.” After which he sentenced them to a life of grounded confidence in God Almighty.

The best graduating student, Joyce Nyarko, graduating with a CGPA of 3.92 was awarded an amount of GHS3500.00 and a plaque for excelling as the best student in Psychology and the best female student. She also received a US$1,000 and a MacBook as the Chancellor’s special award to the valedictorian.

The second overall best, Grace Gagara, missing valedictorian by just 0.01, was still glad for the fact that she was still the best graduating student in her class but would have loved to deliver the valedictorian speech. She went on to add, “Nyarko has worked hard for this and she deserves but I know god is taking me somewhere great.”

Duly dissolving the 21st congregation, the Chancellor of the university, Rev. Dr. Mensa Otabil urged all the graduating students to go out into their respective fields of endeavours with confidence, greatness, prominence, and exceptionalism.
