4 Major Mistakes All Newly Trained Teachers Should Avoid in Their Teaching Profession

The Ghana Education Service has released the postings of the 2021/2022 Newly Trained Teacher and later they were instructed to visit the regional Education Offices in other to get further assistance as to their various districts and schools.

As many of them have already started teaching in the various regions and district, below are the four major mistakes some of their predecessors made that Newly Trained Teacher should try as much as possible to avoid in order to make their lives better and also save the face of their profession.

1. Teacher-Student Affair
One of the things especially some young teachers are engaging in lately is an undue affair with their students. We have been hearing cases on radio and TV stations which is very bad for the profession. All newly trained teachers should try their best not to repeat those acts since it only brings disgrace upon themselves and the entire teaching profession.

2. Not Prioritizing Professional Development
Mostly after newly trained teachers receive their Diploma Certificates from their various colleges, they fail to prioritize upgrading themselves, for example doing distance studies or asking for study leave to do degree courses.

This is one of the reasons why teachers complain of low enumeration. The more you upgrade yourself, the more your salary increases. Newly trained teachers should make their professional development a priority as they prepare to start a new chapter.

3. Failure to Invest
The salaries may not be as much as they want, but also one income stream will never be enough. As President Nana Akufo said; “teaching job is not meant to become billionaire”. So as newly trained teachers prepare to receive salaries, they should try cut expenses, save as much as possible and try to invest them in other areas.

4. Unnecessary Womanizing
Usually when teachers are posted to villages, because of their status, they take advantage of that to lure innocent ladies in the village. What the newly trained teachers should understand is, doing that can end you up having children with people you didn’t plan to have a family with.

All burdens will be on you and you will later find it difficult to develop yourself since all monies will be used for caring for the mother and the baby.
