A 21-Year-Old Young Man Charged and Appears in Court for Touching a Woman's Buttocks

A 21-year-old man Ramadhan Johnson, has been charged at Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi. It is alleged he has committed an offence for intentionally and unlawfully touching a woman’s buttocks without her consent.

The charge report read; “You are charged that on March 10, 2022, along Murang’a Road, Nairobi, you intentionally and unlawfully touched the buttocks of Makena Sara Ngari with your hands against her will,”

Ramadhan, who pleaded not guilty to one count of committing an indecent act with an adult, was slapped with a bond of Ksh300,000 (18,755 GHCedis) with alternative cash bail of Ksh100,000 (6,251 GHCedis).

According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, on the material day at around 9:00 pm, the complainant, who is a business lady along Murang’a Road, was returning her umbrella to her store when the accused who was walking behind her, intentionally touched her buttocks without her consent.

“While coming back from the store as she was walking along a narrow path, she was attacked by the accused person who intentionally touched her buttocks with his hands and pulled her towards his body,” the police report read.

The complainant, upon seeing three other guys who reportedly also had the intention of abusing her, fled the scene for her safety.

On March 11, 2022, the 34-year-old complainant according to court documents, sent a group of elderly men to talk to the accused to admit his mistake and apologize but he refused. She then decided to file a complaint at the Central Police Station.

However, the case has been adjourned by the court to 30th March, 2022 for the final verdict.


Moral Lesson for All

Was it too harsh on the side of the court to charge the young man with this huge amount of money? One may think this is too harsh on the side of the man but truly it is a crime to do such thing to a woman without her will. Even for The fact that, we befriend a lady does not mean is alright for a man to harass her in public by touching her backside and go freely.
