How to Apply for Student Loan in Ghana, Full Details

The management of the “Student Loan Trust Fund” (SLTF) wishes to inform tertiary students especially students who are in need of loan to further their tertiary education that, under no circumstances should they pay any money for processing their loan application to any individual or group of persons parading themselves to be officials from the Fund.

Instead, loan applicants are entreated to deal directly with the Fund through their official website (www.sltf.gov.gh) for a list of all official phone numbers including their zonal offices scattered across the country. However, any person who falls victim of extortion can report to the Fund on their contact numbers found on their website for the matter to be addressed, this was stated in a press statement released by the Fund.

It could be recalled that due to the high number of students passing out of the Free Senior High Education Policy introduced by the incumbent Government in 2017, many brilliants but needy students have had the opportunity to pursue university programmes but due to lack of funds, they have been unable to foot their university bills.

As a result, the Government introduced a policy that made it easy to access the student loan unlike before where a minimum of two guarantors were required plus other details about the applicants before you can access the loan. Now, with just your valid Ghana Card, one is able to apply for student loan to secure good amount of money to support his or her tertiary education.

As a result, the Student Load Trust Fund has expanded its capacity to support more and more students in the various tertiary institutions across the country.

Background

The student Loan Trust Fund was established 16years years ago in December to provide financial support to tertiary students who apply for loan. The loans to the applicants are paid after completion of school.
