I Am Determined to Take a Pay Cut of 40% but I Am Confused- Okudzeto Ablakwa

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa served as a Deputy Minister of State under both John Atta Mills and John Dramani Mahama. He is currently the Member of Parliament for the North Tongu in the Volta region.

Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, seems to be considering the idea suggested by the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah for Government appointees to voluntarily cut their salaries by 30% to support the Government in economic crisis while many minority members have vowed that they won't accept even a 1% pay cut left alone to accept 30%.

However, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Honaroble Okudzeto Ablakwa is currently in a dilemma, he doesn’t know whether to give the pay cut to his constituency or the Government.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Thursday, 24th March 2022, he wrote;
"My dilemma: though I am convinced and determined to take a pay cut by as much as 40%, I am torn between giving it to a government that has proven over the years to lack frugality, and whether I shouldn’t rather be spending the cut on my constituency social initiatives."

Although Okudzeto is willing to accept a pay cut, but, his only problem he has with doing so is whether the Government will use it wisely as expected.

He said he needs advice from the general public.
