“I Didn’t Take Saudi Arabia National Team Role for Money”- Coach Herve Renard Insists

Herve Renard is a successful International Coach, the Frenchman led Zambia to victory at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, defeating Ivory Coast in the final.

Renard won the AFCON with Zambia in 2010, and then three years later he returned to Africa to manage Ivory Coast, leading the team to win the AFCON in 2015.

According to reports, Renard has served as the manager of both the Moroccan national team and the Angolan national team. He has also coached for the French clubs Lille, Sochaux, and Cherbourg.

When Herve Renard was named Saudi Arabia's manager in September 2019, he immediately led the country to a second consecutive World Cup by finishing first in a qualification group that included Australia and Japan.

In a recent interview with “FourFourTwo”, Renard claims he didn't accept the national team role for money.

He disclosed; “Although my financial situation is excellent, it is not what drives me.”
He added; “Even if you have perfect conditions, it won't matter if you don't win any games and you only stay for three months. When you move to a new country, it's because you believe you can make an impact there. We came to Qatar with that mindset, and now we must maintain it and look ahead.”

The question is, can a choice in coach management make a difference?

Therefore, if Saudi Arabia beat Argentina then coaches competence contributes a lot in a team.
