In The Next Three Months, Salaries May Not Be Paid-The Speaker of Parliament Reveals

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin disclosed at the Parliament sitting on Thursday, February 24, 2022 yesterday, that if the House doesn't take certain decisions, the Government may not be able to pay salaries for the next three months.

Before his closing remarks for the Parliament sitting on Thursday, February 24, 2022, Speaker Alban Bagbin surprisingly revealed that based on the urgent information at his disposal, the Government may be unable to pay salaries in the next three months if the e-levy is not passed.

He said; " Honorable Members, the information at my disposal, this is not to discourage the committee from doing their work but if something is not done within the next three months, the government may not be able to pay salaries so we have to take leadership and do a lot of things." The Speaker said it yesterday, February 24, 2022, in Parliament.

However, both majority and minority have not been able to agree on e-levy and other provisions in the budget yet.
