Meet Pele's Son Who Was Sentenced to 33 Years in Prison Over Money Laundering and Drug Trafficking Charges-(Photos)

Edison Cholbi do Nascimento, better known as Edinho is a 52-year old Brazilian soccer coach and for former player who is Londrina's current manager. Edinho is the son of late football legend Pele with his first wife Rosemary Cholbi.

Edinho played for four clubs in Santos, Portugal, Santista, San Caetano and Ponte Preta until 1999 when he retired from football profession at the age of 29. Therefore, his greatest achievement was joining the team Santos where he finished second in the 1995 Serie A.

In 2005, he was arrested for money laundering and drug trafficking. He appealed the verdict and was allowed to continue on the run until he appealed.

In 2014, he was sentenced to a 33-year prison sentence for the crime but steady fastly denied any involvement.

Therefore, the court reduced his sentence to 12 years and 10 months’ prison term. Edinho started serving his sentence in 2017 but the following year he went to a semi open regime. In September 2019 he received an open regime.
