No Government Can Pay You Better- Ghanaian Teachers Told

An Educationist Mr. Isaac Freeman Anyan has appealed to teachers to consider the school children’s future and try as much as possible to work with dedication without thinking about their salary since “no government can pay teachers better”.

A professional Teacher at the Biriwa Methodist ‘A’ Basic School urged “Have the school children at heart and when these children grow well, we the adult will become safe but when we don’t do the work with dedication and do it anyhow, some of these children will grow and become armed robbers and we will fall victim to their operations”

He made this observation when the Boys and Girls Club of Ghana, Anomabo and Adwowa Gyaaba Memorial Foundation in collaboration with Mfantseman Municipal Education Directorate, organized an orientation workshop on Creative Writing Skills for 20 Upper Primary Teachers in Anomabo and Yamoransa Circuits.

Mr. Freeman Anyan who was the Facilitator, strongly believed Creative Writing Skills for Upper Primary Teachers would help the teachers to acquire the needed skills, knowledge and required competence to be able to impart to the school children the skills of writing as well as good essay writing.

He, therefore, charged teachers to be resourceful and learn from different sources so that they would have different ideas to broaden their horizons.

Thus enhancing their scope of understanding of issues and then equipping them with the competencies as well as the contents of what they teach so that they will also deliver.

Mr. Freeman Anyan bemoaned the situation where students from the private schools perform better than public school students, saying that, “it is not that public teachers are not teaching but proprietors of private schools are able to equip their teachers”.

Madam Mavis Atua Bonsu, a beneficiary and a teacher from Anomabo Anglican ‘B’ Basic School, applauded the organizers for such an educative training workshop which would go a long way to improve the kids writing.

She admitted that upper primary teachers including herself were not teaching all that they were taught at the training due to their inadequate knowledge of the subject matter.

Madam Atua Bonsu vowed to use the knowledge she had acquired to help her school wards to become good writers.

A Training Officer for Mfantseman Municipal Education Directorate, Mr. Albert Okyere, charged the participants to go and put the knowledge they have gained from the training into good use.
