Olu Jacobs at 80: Why the Actor Will Forever Be Remembered as a Legend in the Nollywood Industry

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports, Oludotun Jacobs, known professionally as Olu Jacobs, was born July 11 1942 and the veteran actor will turn 80 on July 11.

Also, Olu Jacobs’ wife, Joke Silva, shared an epic throwback of the legendary actor with a cheery caption anticipating his 80th birthday.

She wrote: “Who has the foggiest idea who this handsome young man is…#80th Birthday loading….”

Olu Jacobs began acting in his early 20s in the UK and became famous in Hollywood after "The Vigilante." The veteran actor later appeared in John Irvin's "The Dogs of War."

Olu Jacobs decided to return home to influence Nollywood. His return was felt by the industry, and he became one of Nigeria's most famous actors.

In light of Olu Jacobs' contributions to Nollywood, “Goodnewschi” has decided to tell worldwide why he's a movie legend;

1. Olu Jacobs gained global recognition in the British film industry by appearing in intriguing films.

2. After returning home, the actor worked in films with Pete Edochie, Justice Esiri, Clems Ohameze, and Ngozi Ezeonu.

3. Olu Jacobs opened the Lufudo Group after influencing the film industry. The film academy has produced many talented actors, makeup artists, photographers, scriptwriters, directors, and producers. Most have won awards for their TV performances, while others are less well-known.

4. Olu Jacobs appeared in instructive and motivational films during his time in Nigerian film.

5. Nigerians will never forget the actor's signature gestures and sounds.

Many have hailed Jacobs as one of the greatest and most widely respected African actors of his generation.
