Solar Taxi Transportation: 3 Main Benefits to All Ghanaians

What’s solar taxi?

Solar Taxi, an e-mobility company is set to provide Ghanaians with affordable transportation with its Solar Taxi Application to ease the burden of high transport fares while solving climate change issues.

However, Ghana’s Solar Taxi started as a project launched by Kumasi Hive in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation in September 2018 with the aim of reducing poverty, creating employment and protecting the environment.

This report was noted by Mr. Gilbert Sefa Nuwordu, the Head of Solar Taxi Ride at the media launch of the Solar Taxi Application (App) on Thursday, in Accra and they started operations on Friday, April 1, 2022, at the East Legon and Airport communities.

The vehicles run on batteries that are charged with electricity, with extra portable batteries.

Solar Taxi’s 3 Main Benefits

1. Environmental Benefits. Ghana’s Solar Taxi project is all about using clean, renewable energy to solve problems. In addition, electric vehicles produce fewer carbon emissions than standard vehicles. All of these vehicles would typically require an electrical charge in order to function.

2. Social Benefits. Solar Taxi strives to uplift Ghanaian women through extensive training programs and employment opportunities.

3. Financial Benefits. The Ghanaian startup also proves to be financially viable. Fuel prices in Ghana are already high and recent price increases only put more strain on companies and vehicle owners. The solar-driven technology completely cuts out fuel expenses.

SolarTaxi's vision is to provide services that ensure a clean and sustainable environment by using renewable energy, to accelerate the use and growth of renewable energy sources in conventional ways, and to engineer and build electric-powered vehicles to make them affordable.
