“YouStart Programme” in April 2022 Would Create About One Million Jobs for The Youth - Finance Minister

YouStart is a plan initiative at creating jobs and to provide an effective solution to youth unemployment challenge in Ghana.

During a business pitch organized in Accra on Wednesday, March 2,2022, monitored by Ghanatoday website, the Minister of Finance, Mr. Ofori-Atta disclosed that the YouStart programme would start from next month in April 2022, will create about one million jobs for the youth in the next three years.

Background

YouStart programme is an opportunity to support the youth to bring their creative business ideas to develop the country.

The Minister revealed that; "We have 56% of our population under the age of 24, and about 11 million economically active people, whose creative juices must be mined to grow our economy."
He added; “the Government considered youth entrepreneur development as the panacea to end youth unemployment and develop a robust economy.”

According to the Finance Minister, the YouStart programme will be implemented with a GHS 10 billion Government funding to create more than one million jobs over the next three years.
It seeks to support young entrepreneurs to gain access to capital, training, technical skills and mentoring to enable them to operate their businesses.

In the same perspective, the Deputy Minister for Finance, John Ampontuah Kumah noted that the YouStart, "seeks to provide a variety of assistance to create jobs for the Ghanaian youth to revitalise and transform the economy."

How to Benefit from The YouStart Programme Yet to Be Launched

According to a reliable source, a website will be announced at the launch of the YouStart programme in April 2022 to receive applications from Ghanaian youths.

In other words, those who are interested to be enrolled into the programme can visit any of the offices of the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) and the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) to pick up forms to apply.
