Meet Ghanaian football legend, Charles Addo Odametey

Charles Addo Odametey
(23 February 1937 – 29 December 2006)

Born in Accra, Ghana, the former soccer superstar played for Accra Hearts of Oak and Real Republicans.

As a defender, he won two Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana in 1963 and 1965 and was the captain of the 1965 winning team, Odametey was a member of the Hearts of Oak team that won the first ever national league in Ghana in 1956.

He shares the record for the most appearances in a final of the African Nations Cup having played for the winning team in 1963, 1965 (as captain) and in 1968 final.

He played for Ghana in the Olympic games of 1964 and 1968
