The Accra-Tema motorway, once a vital link between the harbor city and the capital, has now become a perilous route. Built in 1965, this highway has faithfully served Ghanaians for decades.
However, today it stands as a symbol of neglect, marked by extensive potholes that have transformed into treacherous traps. The impact on drivers is dire, from losing control to experiencing vehicle damage. A quick fix of bitumen and gravel does little to alleviate the problem, as heavy rains merely deepen these patches, creating a hazardous, jolting ride. Even more tragic is the loss of lives on this highway.
The embedded pictures clearly depict the current state of the Accra Tema motorway.
