Minimum Wage For illigal Miners Will Shock You. Check It Out

A collection of individuals that engage in illicit mining have voiced their satisfaction with the monetary rewards that result from their operations.

The gold miners claim that their daily wages amount to GH500 each, regardless of how much gold they recover.

They said that the national minimum wage could not possibly be comparable to this.

The visibly elated miners stated that they will go with the deed even though the government is continually making efforts to prevent them from doing so.

I really hope you can see us, Mr. Akufo-Addo. We are working at night … In the event that our machine is taken away, we will have to wash the dishes by hand. Everybody gets work to do. You have the potential to earn $500 in a single day. The question "Which of your workers do you pay $500 a day?" was posed by the miners in a TikTok video that went viral.

The miners stated that their location is unknown, and that the government does not know where all of the 'galamsey' sites across the country are located, in what appeared to be a deliberate attempt to make fun of the government's war against the menace.

The comments made by the unnamed miners came in the aftermath of recent agitation on the effects of illegal mining and how the government is being lax in its response to the problem of illicit mining.

In this regard, a large number of well-intentioned Ghanaians, as well as the opposition National Democratic Congress and several civil organizations, have ramped up their demands that the administration demonstrate more action in place of the typical rhetorics.

Martin Kpebu, a private legal practitioner, stated on Newsfile about two weeks ago that the President needs to make the fight more productive.

In the meantime, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, has initiated an investigation into a number of public officials in relation to allegations that they were involved in unlawful mining.

The probe is focusing on some officials from the Lands Ministry, the Forestry Commission, and the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, all of which have since been disbanded (IMCIM).

This is one of a number of steps that the administration is doing to deal with the threat in a decisive manner.
