What is the best time to enjoy Brukina?

Brukina, is a very popular Ghanaian street food. It is made mainly from millet. Milk and sugar are added to make it a nice beverage.

Ice cubes are sometimes added to give it a refreshing feel. One of the best times to enjoy this is on a hot afternoon when you want something wholesome and refreshing.

In making this, you will need millet, pasteurized milk, water, and sugar.

You can use brown sugar for health reasons.

Here is a simple way to prepare this tasty Ghanaian beverage.

Wash the millet thoroughly and soak overnight.

Drain the water and grind the millet to a rough texture.

Boil water in a big saucepan. Put the millet into a sieve and use your hands to roll the millet until you are able to form sizeable granules

When the water is hot, pour the tiny balls of millet into a colander and cover with a lid.

Cover the colander tightly and allow steam from the hot water to soften the granules.

When the tiny granules become soft and cooked, pour the whole content into a basin and allow it to cool.

Mix fresh cow milk with water for a nice texture. Note: Do not use too much water.

Fill a bowl, mug, or serving glass halfway with the granules, and add your milk and sugar.
You can add ice cream, groundnut, and fruit chunks to give it a unique taste. Add ice cubes for immediate consumption or refrigerate for later. Enjoy.
