A Female Lawyer Fined In Court For Refusing To Marry The Teacher Who Paid Her Tuition Fees

A woman was fined Ush10.4 (ksh348,000) by the Kanungu Magistrate Court for rejecting her fiancé's proposal after he paid for her law school tuition. Mr. Richard Tumwine and Ms. Fortunate Kyarikunda met in 2015 when they were both teachers at the primary school, according to the report.

The man helped Ms. Fortunate achieved her goal of becoming a lawyer by paying for her tuition fees to study law. The two of them agreed to get married when she completes her law school. After becoming a lawyer, the woman didn't keep the promise she made to her fiancé.

She said that the teacher is too old and declined his marriage proposal. When Mr. Twumasi realized how she had betrayed him, he took the matter to the Kanungu Magistrate Court, where she was fined Ksh348,000 for breaking her promise to marry the man.
