A Young Man Rescued After He Climb High Voltage Transmission Pole To Commit Suicide

After attempting suicide by scaling a high-voltage utility pole, a man believed to be in his twenties was rescued by Mbara authorities. After he was denied the food he requested at a grocery store, the young man was discovered climbing a pole by a security guard named Godfred.

He refused to listen to any of the witnesses' pleas for him to descend and instead continued climbing. They quickly contacted UMEME authorities to turn off the lights to prevent him from being electrocuted out of fear that he would die.

The young man was rescued with the assistance of a Sino truck driver when the police and UMEME officials arrived at the scene and laid down mattress on the road.
