A married man locked up his wife and starved her for two years for allegedly being tormented by evil spirit

A wicked man is in police custody after locking his wife and starving her for two years in Maiduguri Metropolitan in Borno state on Friday.

The suspect identified as Isa Abdulai, the victim's husband whose identity withheld caged his wife for two years without feeding her, claiming she was being tormented by evil spirits.

The Women's and children's rights activist Comrade Lucy D. Yunana said she received information from the accused's neighbors who had secretly been feeding the victim about her condition.

They stormed the man's house to save the woman's, who looked thin and weak. She was immediately taken to hospital for immediate treatment and Abdullah was arrested for dehumanizing his wife and leaving her to starve for two years.

Abdullah revealed after his arrest that he had seven children with his wife, but they all died mysteriously, leading him to suspect that his wife was tormented by an evil spirit and imprisoned her.
