Politics Of Fuel Prices; The Doom Of Ghanaians

When politicians engage in frivolous politicking and abandon their core responsibilities of properly managing the affairs of the country, the citizens suffer. Especially when they have gullible citizens in the name of foot soldiers who cheer them on no matter what.

Don't be deceived by President Akufo-Addo's "we are in this together" mantra. He is not feeling the pinch in any way or form. Politicians never feel the suffering they create. Concentrating on their selfish gains is what creates suffering in the first place. They and their children are set for generations to come. Wise up.

Akufo-Addo mounted platforms all across this country touting boastfully how he was going to reduce fuel prices to ease the economic plight of Ghanaians, knowing fully well his Father did not leave him an oil well at home

Within the last two years of the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia-led NPP government, fuel prices have increased from a little above 4 cedis to an astronomical 24 cedis per liter range.

The prices at the pumps at Goil stations were still being used to play political propaganda. They were almost always "forced" to display a cheaper price per liter. Now rumor has it that the Government owes Goil so much hence the recent "no fuel" and "maintenance" signage we witnessed across Goil stations.

Goil has finally joined the market with the real prices and suddenly they all have fuel and maintenance is over. When politicians play politics and propaganda with the exchange rates, the citizens pay the ultimate price at the fuel pumps.

The President is now telling Ghanaians in his recent Nations Address On The Economy that the government was exploring cheaper sources of fuel. Why now? Why were they not using the most affordable sources already? Was it arrogance or lack of common S_ (expletive) on our part as a country?

What is the logic Akufo-Addo and his men are using to produce crude oil in Ghana, ship it all out there, and then go and buy it back at International market prices? Six years in power and no one has thought it wise to fix Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) with a lasting solution?

Both NPP and NDC have maned the affairs of this country for decades and yet can't keep TOR operational for the benefit of Ghanaians? Corruption among political leaders has really killed Ghana.

The most pathetic bunch in Ghana are those who defend politicians for their failures at every turn. I hope NPP foot soldiers (since they are in power) use party cards to buy Gob3 and pay trotro fares.

If we don't unite as citizens to demand better from politicians, we will continue to languish while they enjoy their spoils with their families.
