According to Kwasi Nyantakyi, Abedi Pele is the greatest Ghanaian player of all time.

Abedi Pele, a former Black Stars player, has been named the greatest Ghanaian player to have ever played for the nation by former Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Because of his achievements in club and national football, the former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) claims that Pele is the best player to have ever represented Ghana and Africa.

Abedi Pele made 73 appearances for Ghana and, up until June 7, 2013, when Asamoah Gyan overtook him, led the Black Stars in goals scored with 33.

Nyantakyi called Pele "brilliant" in an interview with Accra's Starr FM, adding that other great players like Michael Essien, Stephen Appiah, and Sulley Muntari would all attest to the same. He declared, "People like Michael Essien, Stephen Appiah, and Sulley Muntari will all agree that Abedid Pele was just brilliant."

When he read about Pele's accomplishments in the newspapers as a young boy, the former Confederation of African Football (CAF) first vice chairman was amazed by his skills. He says it had such a profound effect on him that he went to Tamale, Ghana, to watch Pele play for Real Tamale United, a team in the Ghana Premier League.

I had read about him in the papers and one day, I heard he was coming to Tamale to play a game, so I drove miles away to watch. He made a lasting impression on me. He continued, "Abedi Pele was simply an incredible player.

Nyantakyi has a long list of accomplishments in football administration, including helping Ghana qualify for three FIFA World Cups in a row (2006, 2010, and 2014) and managing the historic victory of the Ghana U-20 team in the FIFA World Cup.

Abedi Pele, who is currently the owner of Ghana's division one team Nania Football Club, was a key player on the winning AFCON 1982 squad in Libya. He also received multiple honours during his professional football career, including three African Player of the Year trophies.

His accomplishments won him accolades from clubs and his country, the most well-known of which was Olympique Marseille's 1993 UEFA Champions League victory.

In 1983, Abedi Pele guided Al Saad Club to the national title in Qatar. After that, he relocated to France, where he performed for Mulhouse, Marseille, Lille, Chamois Niortais, and so on between 1986 and 1993.

In 1993, Abedi Pele relocated to Olympique Lyonnais. Before retiring in 1998, he performed in Italy, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates.
