Man with 102 children and 12 wives promises to encourage family planning because...

A Ugandan man named Mzee Musa Hasahya, who has 12 wives and 102 children, has vowed not to have any more children because he is struggling to manage his enormous family.

The 67-year-old farmer has told his women to take the pill now that they are of childbearing age.

Hasahya, who lives in Bugisa, Uganda, with his enormous family, is reportedly feeling the squeeze of the city's rising cost of living.

Musa has 568 grandchildren and lives in a complex with a 12-bedroom house.

In 1971, when he was 16 years old, he married Hanifa, his first wife.

He claims to be able to tell his children and grandchildren apart, although he denies knowing their names.
He married Hanifa, his first wife, in 1971 when she was only 16 years old after quitting school, and two years later she gave birth to a daughter, making him a father for the first time.

He asserts that he opted to expand his family since he had the means to do so as the village chairman and a businessman (land and money).

"Due to our limited resources, I can no longer handle having children. And on that topic, I've suggested family planning to all of my women who are of childbearing age.

Furthermore, I warn individuals who want to take on more than four spouses from doing so because the situation is not favorable," he repeated.

"My income has decreased steadily over the years as a result of the increased cost of living, and my family has grown steadily," he continued.

He highlighted, "I wanted to enlarge my family by marrying additional ladies because I was able to earn something."

"Since the soils are fertile, I made sure that hoes are provided for everyone of them to plow the ground and produce enough food to maintain the family."

However, he is currently begging the government for help, claiming that it is difficult for him to educate each of his children.

Although he has a huge brood, according to his family, things are usually amicable.
